BUSHFIRE SAFETY
Bushfire Ready
Our Bushfire Action Plan has four levels of alert, which we practise regularly with the students.
They are:
1) Total Fire Ban Day.
The staff and students are informed, the situation is monitored and outdoor and off-site activities are assessed for suitability.
2) Fire in the local District.
The staff and students are informed, the situation is monitored and outdoor and off-site activities are assessed for suitability. Students may be returned to class teachers for close supervision awaiting further information.
3) Fire in the immediate vicinity.
All students, staff and visitors move to the Hall, which is the school safe refuge. The school informs the District Office and liaises with the CFS.
4) Catastrophic Warning in the Mount Lofty Ranges Fire District.
If a Catastrophic warning is issued for the Mt Lofty Ranges the school will NOT be closed as it rated as a LOW RISK site.
What is the role of parents?
In helping us be prepared for a bushfire parents have an important role to play. They need to:
Keep up to date with bushfire warnings. We are in the Mount Lofty Ranges Fire District.
Be aware that in the event of a fire in the local area students will not be released into the care of adults other than the parent. Parents who collect their child from school must sign them out at the school office so we can keep accurate records of those for whom we are responsible.
