PASTORAL CARE
Christy Bailey is the Pastoral Support Worker in our school who offers a unique dimension of care and support to our students and school community.
She is positive role model who brings genuine compassion, understanding and practical ongoing support to students and families, working alongside and complimenting other welfare and wellbeing staff.
Christy is readily accessible in the school yard at break times, supporting and working alongside teachers and students in classrooms
Christy also supports our extra curricular events and activities.
Some of the exciting programs that Christy offers include:
The Kickstart for Kids breakfast program. All students are welcome from 8.30 - 8.45 under the shelter by the canteen every day of the week.
Circle of Friends is a program for those who require support in the area of friendship. We have different groups of up to 6 students who meet weekly to discuss about what it means to be a friend and develop strategies for making and keeping friends
Kids Hope is a World Vision mentoring program where trained, usually retired, persons from Blackwood Uniting Church spend an hour per week with a child. We currently have 8 Kids Hope Mentors working with our students. This is a very successful program run in in Australian Schools.
