Governing Council
The Governing Council provides a focus and a forum for the involvement of parents and the school community in identifying the educational needs and attitude of the local community to educational developments within the school;
It ensures that the cultural and social diversity of the school community is considered and the particular needs of all student groups are appropriately identified.
The Governing Council, in conjunction with the Principal;
- Set the vision and the broad direction of the school
- Determine policies for the school, including policies for the safety, welfare and behaviour management of students.
- Monitors and reviews the improvement plan.
- Develops, monitors and reviews the objectives and targets of the improvement plan.
- Approves the school budget and monitors the application of the total financial resources available to the school through the regular review of budget.
The Governing Council Reports to the school community and the Minister on:
- Improvement Plan
- Finances of the school
- Operational plans
- The Council’s operations
Our Governing Council is made up of 12 people, 9 of whom are parents who are elected by the school community at the Annual general meeting as well as the Principal and 2 staff representatives. The Chairperson, Minutes Secretary and Treasurer are all elected parents.
The work of the Governing Council is supported by several sub-committees:
- The Finance Committee – Approves the school budget and monitors the application of the total financial resources
- The Sports Committee – oversees the organisation of sports on offer, organises teams, officials, fees and registration and promotes our code of conduct.
- Parents, Families and Friends – encourage communication between parents and the school. They support the ‘social life’ of the school and also provide advice on school uniform and canteen provision and organise the fundraising events for the school.
- OSHC Committee – manages the out of school hours care facility.
