Enrolment
Blackwood Primary School offers several options for enrolment throughout a child’s school journey.
Children may enrol at the beginning of their schooling in our Reception intake.
There are two Reception intakes per year.
Children who turn 5 years old:
- Before May 1st in the entry year may begin school in Term 1
- Between May 1st and October 31st in the entry year and may begin school in Term 3 (Mid-year intake)
- After 31st of October in the entry year may begin in the following year.
Children who begin school in Term 1 will complete 4 Terms of Reception.
Children who begin school in Term 3 will complete 6 Terms of Reception.
Our Transition process from Pre-School includes three organised visits to ensure a smooth transition. During these visits children will experience the many opportunities offered at Blackwood Primary School and where possible are introduced to our Junior Primary teaching staff. They will become familiar with the classroom setting and meet new friends. These visits help to make the children’s first experiences of school positive and rewarding.
New Receptions are also invited to attend our Tomadachi Time which occurs fortnightly in the term prior to entry. During this time children have the opportunity to further experience the school environment and teaching staff.
Families moving into our area also have the opportunity to enrol at Blackwood Primary School. Prior to starting the Principal may spend some time with the family gathering information regarding children so that the transition to Blackwood Primary School is as smooth as possible.
Blackwood Primary School is also accredited through International Education Services (IES) to be able to offer enrolment to International Students.
